Caroline Hu – BoF China Prize Winner 2019

17th September 2019

‘Impressions of Love’

Always on the lookout of something unique and different, I went to see Caroline Hu’s SS20 collection at the Serpentine Gallery during London Fashion Week. Joyful, romantic, reflective and eye-opening, her pieces meld the beauty of the natural world with her own artistic influences, including Degas’ ballerinas. The collection combines soft chiffon and appliquéd lace with radical architecture and rich colours. Every piece is exquisite, delicate and so pleasing to the eye.

Caroline Hu won the BoF China Prize in partnership with Yu Holdings back in March 2019. The award was launched in 2018 to discover and support emerging Chinese designers. As the winner, she received the opportunity to showcase her collection as part of the official London Fashion Week. She will also receive mentorship from the extensive floral BoF community of fashion with US$100,000 cash prize.

Caroline Hu graduated with a BA in womenswear from Central Saint Martins in London and an MFA in fashion design and society from Parsons School of Design in New York. After gaining experience with Tory Burch, Alexander Wang and Jason Wu, she launched her own label in 2018.

Remember her name as I think we’ll be hearing a lot more of Caroline Hu in the years to come.
